A private-label seller should not assume that a module supplier or factory has qualified the seller's finished branded product. Bluetooth SIG states that the company bringing a Bluetooth product to market must complete the applicable qualification process under its own membership account, with marketed product and model identity matching the listing.
What should a buyer verify first?
- Identify the company that will market or distribute the finished product under its name.
- Record every marketed product name and model number, including variants that use different identities.
- Identify the Bluetooth design included in the selected hardware and software configuration.
- Confirm whether the design is used without qualification-relevant changes.
- Use Qualification Workspace and the current QPRD to determine the path and any required testing.
- Complete the process before the product is placed on the market.
Why a supplier document is not enough
A component or earlier design reference can be important evidence, but it does not automatically establish that a buyer's final product name, model, configuration and branding are correctly listed. The final responsibility depends on the commercial scenario and the company representing the product as its own.
Product identity control
| Record | Control question | Approval evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | Does it match packaging, manual, marketing and listing? | Approved name register |
| Model number | Do variants use distinct identities where required? | Model/variant matrix |
| Included design | Which controller, host, profiles and software are included? | Design references and configuration record |
| Changes | Did hardware, antenna, firmware or enabled features change? | Dated change-impact review |
| Listing | Is the responsible company's final product represented accurately? | Qualification Workspace record |
When should the review happen?
Start during model selection, not after packaging is printed. Repeat the impact review after any change to the wireless design, firmware, enabled features, antenna, product identity or ownership scenario. Keep the qualification record linked to the approved sample and release revision.
